Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 1982. Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. She was born in Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. While struggling financially she landed her first part as the title character in the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace would like to be more prominently in film having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She was as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the sixth season. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also a model for the stars. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family and is the elder sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in the films of her father in his adolescent years. Along with her brother, she also appeared on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise in both of her roles as a lead character in Secretary (2002) which is an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for The Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years she was a part of comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to the role of the kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
